Football Combination
There were a lot of changes in the Football Combination this season, nine clubs from the Second Division of that competition having decided to resign and re-form the old London Mid-Week League.
Norwich City and Cardiff City were relegatedfrom Division I together with Shrewsbury Town (who subsequently also dropped out of the tournament) and in their place Reading and Gillingham have been promoted to make up the First Division up to 17 clubs (one less than last season).
In view of the depleted fixture-list it was decided to revive the Combination Cup competition, and this will now be played on the League principle in eight sections (consisting of threee, fours   and fives). The section winners will play on a knock-out basis during the latter part of the season.
Metropolitan League
Departures from the Metropolitan League during the close season were St. Neots Town, Dartford Reserves and the botton two clubs - Chertsey Town and Dustable Town. In place of these our "A" Team will now oppose Hillingdon Borough Reserves, Cray Wanderers and Crittall Athletic. Jimmy Barrett is continuing as team-manager of the "A" side and Archie Wood will be "the man with the sponge"
