CUT PRICE CROSS
Hard-up City get striker for £135,000
MANCHESTER CITY got a cut-price bargain yesterday when they signed West Ham striker David Cross for £135,000. Cross, 31, a free agent after his contract expired at the end of last season, was valued at £300,000 by West Ham.
Hard-up City's best offer for him was £150,000—but the Football League tribunal decided in Manchester yesterday that they could buy him for £15,000 less.
Hammers manager John Lyall said : " We had a fair hearing and have to accept the verdict, but there was certainly a big difference in valuation."
